ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) order - issued on October 29 - dissolved the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ad hoc committee and suspended interim chairman Najam Sethi, Express News reported on Thursday.

The IHC today issued the three-page long written statement, explaining the verdict.

As per the IHC order, the administrative and managerial powers now rest with the PCB governing body which will handle all the matters, including election of board chairman.

Confusion

In response to a petition, IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had suspended Sethi and barred him from performing his duties for failing to comply with a legal order to elect a permanent PCB chairman on October 18.

However, after a couple of hours, a division bench, at the same court granted a stay order on the suspension ruling until November 4.

Sethi further tweeted that he was still the PCB chairman because of the latest stay order.

However, Express News reported that the IHC written reply – issued today – states that Sethi remains suspended.

Meanwhile, a petition was also filed in the court today calling for issuance of contempt of court notice to Sethi for tweeting in defiance of a court order.
