Rally bombings: Indian Mujahideen behind attack

Six people were killed and more than 80 wounded in the attack on Narendra Modi’s rally.

NEW DELHI:
Indian Mujahideen militant group is believed to be behind the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi’s rally in which six people were killed and more than 80 wounded, police said on Tuesday. Modi is seen as a target of militants who hold him responsible for communal riots a decade ago, during his first term as chief minister of Gujarat state. At least 1,000 people, most of them Muslims, were killed in the riots. Senior police official S N Pradhan said one of two suspects arrested after the blasts had identified a senior member of the Indian Mujahideen group, Tehseen Akhtar, as the organiser of the attack.
