Equalisation surcharge: Stay on recovery extended to Nov 19

The petitioners say that the surcharge goes against various provisions of the Constitution and the NEPRA Act.

LAHORE:
Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan of the Lahore High Court has extended till November 19 a stay on the recovery of equalisation surcharges in electricity bills.  The judge also sought a reply to petitions moved by various companies against the recovery from the federal government and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) by that date. The petitioners say that the surcharge goes against various provisions of the Constitution and the NEPRA Act.
