KARACHI:

A few unidentified men bombed a transporter’s office in PECHS within the limits of Tipu Sultan police station, however, no casualty were reported.

The explosion took place outside the office situated in E-Market in Block 6 of PECHS. It was a powerful blast, which damaged the company’s truck parked outside and smashed the windowpanes of a nearby building.

A large number of law enforcers reached the site immediately along with the bomb disposal squad, and after initial inspection, they said the explosion was caused by a locally made cracker. It was thrown on the truck parked outside the office, said the police.

The transporter, Anwar, said that he was frequently receiving extortion threats. The police officials believed that it could be a warning by the culprits to scare the owner and compel him to pay the extortion money, he said.

SHO Haider Masood told The Express Tribune that a case has been registered while further investigation was underway.
