President’s One-Day Cup: Sharjeel propels ZTBL to inspiring win

Opener narrowly misses 200 as bankers beat Wapda.

ISLAMABAD:
Left-handed opener Sharjeel Khan smashed 194 as ZTBL beat Wapda by 13 runs in their President’s One-Day Cup match at the Marghazar Ground in Islamabad.

Sharjeel’s feat comprised 13 sixes and 14 boundaries in his 124-ball knock as ZTBL amassed 359 for eight in 45 overs.  With two overs left, Sharjeel tried for another six, only to be caught at the boundary.

Babar Azam chipped in with 33 as Mohammad Naeem claimed two wickets.

In reply, Wapda were bowled out for 223 with Usman Shinwari picking up four wickets while Zohaib Khan and Abdur Razzaq bagged three and two scalps respectively.

NBP down PIA as Sami, Akbar score tons

Sami Aslam and Akbarur Rehman scored quickfire tons to guide NBP to a four-run victory over PIA.


NBP ended up with 321 for five in their quota as Aslam top-scored with 126 off 107 and Akbar hit a 106-ball 127.

PIA could only manage 275 for seven despite Shoaib Malik’s ton and Faisal Iqbal’s half-century. Hammad Azam and Raza Hasan took two wickets.

In another match, Yasir Arafat claimed a five-wicket haul to bowl KRL to a six-wicket win against PTV.

Meanwhile, spinners Yasir Shah and Imran Khalid bagged six wickets between them as SNGPL defeated PQA by seven wickets.

Another match saw Zahid Mehmood and Jalat Khan picking up three wickets apiece to propel SBP to a shocking 50-run win against HBL.
