ISLAMABAD: After having improved its Test rankings to fourth following its series draw with South Africa, Pakistan now has the opportunity to improve its the ICC One-Day International Team Rankings.

If Pakistan manages to win its upcoming five match series against South Africa by 3-2 or better, it may be able to improve its sixth-placed ranking to even jump above South Africa in the limited overs game. Pakistan are four rating points behind South Africa.

The series, which starts in Sharjah on Wednesday, will be looked at by both sides as an opportunity to improve their respective rankings.

If South Africa win the series 4-1, they can improve their rating points tally to 107, bringing them within four rating points of England and Sri Lanka. That gap can be further trimmed to just one rating point if South Africa sweep the series.
