KARACHI: Afghan FC stunned NBP 3-1 to register their second win in the ongoing season of the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) at the KPT Football stadium yesterday.

Afghan FC took the lead in the 25th minute of the match through Abdul Samad’s goal.

Himat Khan doubled the lead in the 55th minute before Afghan FC goalkeeper Fazal Haq surprised the spectators when his goal-kick bounced in front and over his counterpart into the goal.

Muhammad Asif scored the only goal for NBP in the 75th minute.

Match Commissioner Ali Nawaz Baloch said that the third goal from Afghan FC was an entertaining one.

“It was a surprise for all of us,” Baloch told The Express Tribune. “NBP players including, their goalkeeper were away from their goal post, trying hard to score. But Haq’s strike was superb.”

Meanwhile, Navy also shocked Muslim FC 4-3 at the Korangi Baloch Stadium yesterday.

“It was an important victory,” said Navy captain Muhammad Ramzan. “Muslim FC are in fact a better team than most of the departments.”

“Every victory will help us. We had a rough time this season. At least four of our key players have joined other departments. We just want to end among the top 10 this year.”

With the wins, Afghan FC climbed four places to 11th position with nine points after nine matches, while NBP remained in second place with 19 points.

Navy also improved to eighth spot with 12 points, whereas Muslim FC have 15 points but lost their fourth position to HBL. The latter moved up two places with a draw against Pak-Afghan Clearing Agency 2-2 at the KMC Stadium yesterday. They have 16 points now.
