It happened at the same place where on October 10 three suicide bombers had died in premature blasts while they were moving towards their target near Orangi Town's Ijtamah Gah (religious gathering spot).
"We had some leads over the case and as we reached the spot, the TTP men opened indiscriminate firing at us," said a Rangers official.
"Thanks to Allah, our men remained safe in the attack, however, our jawans also fired back and one TTP member was wounded, and who later succumbed to his injuries."
A large number of rangers came to the site and conducted the operation, however, most of the culprits had already escaped under the cover of firing.
Separately, Rangers claimed that they apprehended 63 alleged criminals including Lyari gangsters and criminals affiliated with political groups. According to a Rangers' spokesperson, the arrests were made during targeted raids in various parts of the city.

We commend the Pakistani security forces in their efforts to negate the threat of violence from the region. It is clear that the terrorists are not taking a single step back in their mission to destabilize the region. The recent surge of attacks throughout the country shows that they are fully focused on working against our peace objectives in the region. We stand by the government of Pakistan and hope to remain unified against those who a pose a risk to the safety of our nations. The recent meeting between PM Nawaz Sharif and President Obama reaffirms our commitment to working together in a healthy partnership. We’ve come a long way in our decade long partnership, and certainly look forward to working together for the sake of achieving our shared objectives.

Quick! Call Imran Khan! Pro-peace TTP leader was killed by rangers participating in the 'War of Terror'. TTP Karachi should be given a room in PTI's main office in Karachi.
@liberal:
PPP has been reduced from a Federal Political Party to a Regional Political Party.
When I say PPP's tenure, it means the previous federal government of PPP and not the provincial PPP.
Now the credit goes to the sitting government of PML(N) in the federal capital who took concrete steps and passed the instructions to the Rangers and the Police.
The provincial sitting government of PPP had no other choice except to cooperate and obey the orders of the sitting PML(N) federal government of Pakistan and this is how the operation is going on successfully.
I suppose we should condole with PTI and JI :)
@Syed A. Mateen: fyi it is still PPP's tenure, as law and order is the responsibility of province.. if you want to know why PPP didn't do it in last 5 years you should listen to haroon rasheed's comments on aman committee being used by PML-N to rig elections in karachi..the same aman committee that was banned by PPP and was subjected to various operations in PPP's tenure only.. PML-N would've simply used mqm against PPP to topple the government if they had started an indiscriminate operation like the kind we are seeing now..politics is not just what you see on media, there is a lot more going on behind the scenes..
Good job done by the Rangers.
Had Rangers been given orders during the PPP tenure, the lives of numerous innocent people would have been saved.
The criminals should be arrested by all means and should be prosecuted according to the law of the land so that peace should be restored at all cost in Karachi.
Nation must apologise to TTP for killing its affiliate, now how will they negotiate!
