Curtain raiser: Exhibition to open on Oct 28
Eleven paintings will be exhibited.
LAHORE:
A paintings exhibition by Assad Salahuddin titled Silent Prevailences will open at the Colours Art Gallery on October 28. It will continue till November 16.
Eleven paintings will be exhibited.
Salahuddin says, “I have tried to depict the world in a series of events.”
He says he has tried to inculcate mystery to his paintings. He says he drew inspiration from man’s natural curiosity to understand the world around him.
“I’ve tried to free myself from shackles of traditional art,” he says. “Man is a curious being and always trying to learn more about the world. To do so, he must break free of taboos and restrictions. That is what I have tried portray.”
He says he has used vivid imagery and enhanced shadows to depict the known and the unknown. He leaves the interpretation to the viewers.
Salahuddin says artists should point to the unknown, instead of focusing only on familiar things.
“Exploring an unfamiliar world allows us to use our imagination in very creative ways,” he says.
