Dengue: 31 new cases surface in Swat

As many as 31 new dengue patients were confirmed on Friday, taking the total number of infected patients to 8,765 in Swat district. Spokesperson of the dengue unit in Saidu Teaching Hospital (STH), Dr Wasil Ahmad, said 22 patients were admitted at the STH on Friday after which the total number of patients registered with the hospital reached 4,945. “Nearly, 44 patients were discharged after they made a complete recovery which pushed the total number of cured patients to 4,712,” he added. Dr Ahmad further said 12 patients, including 10 males and two females are suffering with complications and being treated at the intensive care unit. Meanwhile, 24 more dengue infected patients were identified in Bisham tehsil of Shangla, taking the tehsil’s total to 1,037.
