IHC orders police to submit Lal Masjid murder case record against Musharraf
The police sought further time for submission of the case record.

The Islamabad High Court ordered the police to submit the case record against former president Gen (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf today in the murder of ‘prayer leader’ of Lal Masjid, Abdul Rasheed Ghazi, Express News reported.
The police sought further time for submission of the case record.
Background
On October 21, Haroonur Rashid Ghazi, the complainant in Lal Masjid case, had nominated Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former federal ministers Khursheed Kasuri, Aftab Khan Sherpao and Tariq Azeem among others as co-accused in the case.
On October 10, former president Pervez Musharraf was arrested for the charge of murdering Ghazi and his mother during the infamous 2007 operation.
On July 3, 2007, Musharraf had ordered a military operation against the mosque for challenging the writ of the state.
The military besieged the mosque for 12 days before assaulting the compound, an attack in which hundreds of students were killed.
The former chief cleric of Lal Masjid was accused of using the mosque loudspeaker to instigate madrassa students to attack the Rangers who were deployed outside the mosque in order to prevent Maulana Abdul Aziz and his associates at Lal Masjid from continuing their campaign of public intimidation that they had been carrying out since January of that year.
Musharraf is currently facing trial in four cases: judges’ detention and the murders of Benazir Bhutto and Nawab Akbar Bugti, and now the Lal Masjid operation.
