Alleged corruption: Hospital management accused of ignoring merit
Complainant alleged that the admission panel had violated merit while hiring the house officers.
GUJRANWALA:
A senior doctor at Civil Hospital had filed a complaint against the hospital management for ‘hiring ineligible doctors as house officers’.
Dr Asif Javed filed his complaint at the Anti Corruption Establishment against the appointment of several house officers. He alleged that the admission panel had violated merit while hiring the house officers.
He said among the candidates were two gold medallists from local medical colleges, who were ignored, while students given grace marks were hired instead. Dr Javed said that the Assistant Medical Superintendent Suhail Anjum Butt, Deputy Medical Superintendent Muhammad Gulzar and Medical Superintendent Anwar Aman had been favouring Young Doctors Association members and compromising on merit. Later, talked to The Express Tribune, the MS denied the allegation.
Some doctors speaking at the condition of anonymity said that there was an ongoing tussle between the MS and Dr Javed.
They said both of them were members of opponent doctors’ groups in the hospital and looked for chances to create conspiracy against each other.
