Targeted killings: ‘TTP man’ attacks two police officials

In retaliatory fire by police, one attacker was killed on the spot, his companion was arrested in injured condition.

The alleged attacker, who was killed while trying to flee after attacking police officials in SITE, was identified as a member of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, The Express Tribune has learnt.


At least two police officials lost their lives while another was wounded when a police van came under attack in the Metroville area of SITE, late Wednesday night. The incident occurred when the personnel of SITE A-Section police station were conducting routine snap-checking in Metroville. The deceased officials were identified as head constable Qazi Alam and constable Javed while Nadeem was injured.

In the retaliatory fire by the police, one of the attackers was killed on the spot while his companion was arrested in injured condition. The deceased attacker was identified as Adnan while the injured as Sajid, DSP Abdul Waheed told The Express Tribune. According to police sources, both attackers were active members of the outlawed TTP.

At least 16 police officials have been shot dead in SITE area alone over the last 10 months. “Most of these policemen were killed for conducting operations against the terrorists and providing information about the TTP to their officers,” said a police official.
