Allotted to bureaucrats: Prime Minister Nawaz orders plots be taken back
These extra plots were allotted to 21 and 22 grade civil servants during PPP’s last govt.
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to take back the extra one-kanal plots, awarded to some civil servants during the last PPP government.
According to a letter issued by the PM Office before Eid, Housing and Works Ministry has been directed to immediately submit details of civil servants who received plots in Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) and later to issue notices to them.
Informed officers told The Express Tribune on Wednesday that some three dozen civil servants of BPS 21 and BPS 22 received extra one-kanal plots in the foundation. Majority of them have sold out these plots while some of civil servants have superannuated. These plots were awarded without considering a proper criterion, they claimed.
According to the sources, Housing and Works State Minister Usman Ibrahim, after receiving the letter, directed the relevant department to prepare a list of the civil servants.
Illegal appointments
The minister has also sought a detailed report on the appointments made in the FGEHF and Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) during the tenure of last government.
According to an official, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz believes on merit and this step is to evaluate if these appointments were made strictly in accordance with the prescribed procedure, rules and regulations and on merit and not under outside pressure.
He said the minister emphasised the need to follow the rules and regulations for every official assignment and said there was no place for nepotism and favoritism. “Under the leadership of incumbent government, we are trying our level best to make the system fair and transparent,” he added.
