Abbas leads NBP to victory in PPFL

KARACHI:
NBP replaced Wapda on second spot in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) after defeating debutants Lyallpur FC 1-0 at the KMC Football Stadium yesterday.

Both teams played a goalless first-half, while Abbas Ali sealed victory for his side in the 89th minute.

With the win, NBP have 19 points after playing nine matches, whereas Lyallpur FC stayed at the bottom with their sixth defeat of the nine matches played so far this season.



In another match at the Korangi Baloch Stadium, Navy registered their second win as they defeated Baloch FC 1-0. The side finally recorded a win, after a string of defeats, in their 10th match of the league.


Both teams struggled to take the lead in the first-half, but a goal from Navy’s Asif Bakhsh in the second minute of injury-time through a penalty-kick changed the score sheet.

Navy replaced PIA in ninth position with nine points after playing 10 matches. Baloch FC remained in 11th place with seven points.

Meanwhile, ZTBL held HBL in a goalless draw at the KPT stadium. HBL moved to sixth place with 12 points after 10 matches, whereas ZTBL maintained 10th position with eight points.
