Eight people were injured on Tuesday in an exchange of fire between two groups at Civil Hospital’s emergency ward.
The fire was provoked by a fight between two boys - Usman and Ilyas- who had gotten into a fight on Eid in a public park. Both sides had filed complaints against each other.
But, the matter was settled when some neighbours intervened. On Tuesday, Usman and Ilyas came face-to-face at Islamabad Mor and again got into a fight. Both of them called friends, who attacked the rivals.
Four boys from both sides were injured and taken to Civil Hospital, where later eight men, including Usman and Ilyas, had an argument that ended up with shooting.
The hospital administration said they tried to stop them, but later called the police. The incident created a panic at the hospital. Police said they had to baton charge people to stop them from running around and entering into wards and offices ‘to seek shelter thinking that the hospital had been attacked’. The injured were identified as Muhammad Tufail, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Nauman, Abdul Khaliq, Abid Ali, Wasim Khalid, Usman and Ilyas.
