The Islamabad High Court directed the Pakistan Election Commission to conduct elections for a new PCB chairman by November 2.
The directive came after the governing board of the PCB was dissolved on October 15, and a five-member interim management committee (IMC) was formed to run the cricket affairs.
The IMC comprises of Najam Sethi, ex-chairman Shaheryar Khan, former players Zaheer Abbas and Haroon Rasheed, and former team manager Naved Cheema.
According to a PCB official, those candidates who held a background in first class cricket along with a Bachelors degree are eligible to contest the elections.
Mohsin Hasan Khan said on Tuesday that he hadn't given it a final thought but was certainly considering to run as candidate for chairman.
"If people think that I am capable enough to run cricket affairs then I might give it a thought," he said.
Mohsin, who has played 48 Tests and 75 ODIs from 1977 to 1986 mainly as an opening batsman, said he had coached the national cricket team and achieved many successful stints under his leadership.
"I believe a cricketer can handle the board matters well if elected," he added.
Talking about the national ODI team announced for the South Africa series, he said the experienced Younis Khan deserved a chance in the ODI squad as his presence in the team brings stability and contentment to the players.
Mohsin further said that Abdul Razzaq also deserved a chance in the team.
"Razzaq is a very good player and has been long gone from the limited overs squads."
Speaking of the second and the last Test Mohsin expressed the belief that Pakistan will win it.
"Our team has performed tremendously well in the first Test and I am sure they will do the same and win the other one too," he added.

@Zee: amir sohail is the one person who criticizes imran khans policy about domestic cricket even though he calls him self a worldcup winner under imran's captaincy. some1 like amir sohail who can never be the correct person to run the cricket board, he was a good opener but very proud on the other hand too. you need some1 who can look into grass root level problems to rectify them and improve cricket culture as a whole in pakistan.
I believe in this man!! He should be given the opportunity to run PCB!
@Khalid Latif: I totally agree with you PCB Chairman should be a good administrator who has business snese and who can make good relations with all the other boards not only with India I dont know why every chairman after his appointment says that he will convience India to play Pakistan.
Rameez Raja, Basit Ali, Zaheer Abbas & Aamir Sohail will be the best choice. It must be an ex-cricketer for Chairman post. IHC thumbs up!!!
and Mr. President was saying that Pakistan cant get any worse than this.... karlo gal !
@Uza Syed: Mian Sahib is a politician and we all know politics is bad for cricket, therefore my vote is for Imran Khan. A useless politician but great cricketer will be a great asset for BCP.
Mohsin Khan coached a losing Pakistan team and under him they won a white wash over the #1 side in the world. I dont think he should be taken this lightly
With NS the PM as chief Patron, I think PHAJAA of Phajay kay Paayae of Hira mandi, would be the best choice, as PCB does not deserve to have some educated administrator managing the affairs with pride and dignity; Phajaa would probably do a better job than most as at least he can prepare good quality food product; so, he may prepare similarly a great & good product in players from scratch; Present & previous chairmen were just dummies & idiots with no brains and only prejudice in front line to please their ego and masters;
Please keep Mohsin Khan out of the PCB. He is a nuisance, and only interested in self promotion and money making. We can do much better than him for running the board.
@Khalid Latif: aamir sohail the drunkard who makes little sense and blames ik for all of pak crickets ills?
@Khalid Latif:
Spot on. 100% agree with your analysis. Former players are all money hungry and they will never stop running around the PCB because they have no ability to do anything else. Look at how many rounds of PCB people like Intikhab Alam, Javed Miandad, Salim Altaf, Zakir Khan, Iqbal Qasim, Salim Jaffer, Mohsin Khan, Abdul Qadir, Salahuddin Ahmed etc have all had. Yet they continue to run around begging for more positions.
@US CENTCOM:
A capable administrator would be Ramiz Raja or Aamir Sohail - folks who have a world cup winning background, solid international experience, and education and are able to see the bigger picture instead of the closet mentality that is found with people like Mohsin Khan, Abdul Qadir, Rashid Latiff and others. Zaka Ashraf was a terrible chairman, but compared to Ijaz Butt, he was at least sane and not senile. In all major countries, the Cricket board chairman are not neccesarily ex players, so why should we adopt this method in Pakistan. We should hire the best professional for the job, and then have someone like Ramiz Raja or Aamir Sohail work as the Director of Cricket operations, responsible for the day to day running of the actual cricket related work, while the Chairman handles the finance, administration, and relations with other boards, ensuring we get our share of test matches and series against top opposition, instead of playing the likes of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh all the time. If ex-players want to head the PCB, they should go get a MBA and work experience before throwing their hat in, just thinking that because they were ex players they have a birth right to be in prominent positions in the PCB. Go make it in the real professional world first gentlemen, then think about running the PCB.
@Khalid
I don't think he would be my first choice, but he would be a better choice than Ijaz butt. At the end of the day, you need someone who has played the game. Otherwise, you will end up with someone like Zaka Asharf who will, despite trying, fail to bring the desired changes.
Ali Khan
Oh God. The last thing we need is Mohsin Khan heading the PCB. It would be the bufoon sequel, after the previous one with Ijaz Butt in charge. Ex-cricketers in Pakistan are the worst people to head the board, it needs to be run by professionals, whereas ex cricketers can be assigned roles to improve the game at a domestic level, set up camps, talent hunts etc. In Mohsin Khans case, he should do us all a favor and stay at home.
Mohsin would be no good as Chairman. At best he should be appointed as co comentator
Why not Mian Nawaz himself personally? After all he has some cricketing background (even if 3rd class cricket) and also some degree of sort also 3rd class but nevertheless!
