Pemra takes action against 124 FM radio stations
Pemra takes action against illegal radio stations, seals off broadcasters' offices and confiscates equipment.

Pakistan Electronic Media and Regulatory Authority (Pemra) have taken action against 124 FM radio stations by sealing off their offices and confiscating their equipment.
According to a report by Pemra, it has started an operation against illegal FM radio stations in different cities of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, and Lakki Marwat.
Militant activists had been promoting negative and sectarian propaganda through FM radio stations. Cases against the sealed FM radio stations were registered by Pemra in police stations in these areas before action was taken.
According to the report, radio stations of banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban were also included in the sealed radio stations.
Pemra says it is now trying to ensure the permanent closure of the illegal radio stations.
