Crackdown: Law enforcers claim to arrest 64 ‘criminals’

As many as 64 alleged criminals were apprehended during ongoing targeted raids by the police and Rangers on Monday.

A member of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) was arrested along with his companion after they exchanged fire with the police in Tipu Sultan within the limits of Bahadurabad police station. The arrested ANF man, who was identified as Azhar Hussain, is suspected to be in the city on holidays from Islamabad. His companion was identified as Sajid Hussain.

According to SHO Haider Zaidi, the suspects were arrested when the police received a complaint from a citizen who was looted by the suspects. “A targeted raid was conducted in the area upon the information provided by the complainant, where the two alleged criminals were arrested while distributing the looted money,” the SHO explained. Weapons were also recovered from the possession of the two criminals, the officer said. adding that a case has been registered.




The police also arrested three suspects after an encounter in Garden. The arrested suspects were identified as Faizan Ali alias Langra, Muhammad Saeed and Muhammad Faisal. According to officials, the suspects were involved in various target killings. The police refused to disclose whether the three suspects had any political affiliations.

An alleged extortionist was arrested during a raid conducted in Surjani. The accused, Kashif Ali Siddiqui, was caught red-handed by the police during a raid. Two notorious criminals, Shakeel aka Hukla and Muhammad Tayyab, were arrested from New Karachi. Shakeel and Tayyab were wanted by the police for around 18 cases. The two were eventually caught after they opened fire on the police in order to escape arrest.

Two suspects involved in street crimes were also arrested from Baloch Colony. According to police officials, the suspects were caught while attempting a robbery. A couple of suspects reportedly involved in street crimes were apprehended by the Korangi Industrial Area police. The suspects, who were identified as Ghaffor Hayat Mirani and Jumma Gul, were in possession of weapons.

Rangers have apprehended 16 alleged criminals during targeted raids in various parts of the city including Korangi, Mira Naka, Akbar Road, Baloch Goth, North Nazimabad, Korangi, Golimar, Rabia City, Saba Avenue-DHA, Steel Town, Gulbahar, Shah Faisal Colony, Saudabad, Chanesor Goth and Bagh-e-Rizwan areas and also carried out snap checking near Landhi. According to a Rangers spokesperson, 16 criminals were arrested during the raids and weapons have been confiscated from all of them. Meanwhile, 20 alleged criminals were caught by the police in district East. This includes five absconders, with the police recovered a total of five pistols, one rifle, and two motorcycles as well narcotics. District south police had similar success, arresting 16 criminals and recovered a pistol, two motorcycles and nine bottles of wine.
