Did you know?: Ellen DeGeneres gave 10,000 dollars to a waitress
TV show host Ellen DeGeneres gifted $10,000 along with a 50-inch TV to a waitress for her kindness
Good deeds always pay off in the end and for New Hampshire waitress Sarah Hoidahl, the pay off was a hefty amount of $10,000 by comedian and TV show host Ellen DeGeneres. After the recent US government shutdown, two US National Guard members were lunching at the place Hoidahl works. She overheard the two servicewomen saying that they should eat light as they weren’t getting paid thanks to the shutdown, reported eonline.com.
Kind-hearted Hoidahl wanted to help, so instead of giving them the $27.75 bill, she left them a thank you note for their services to the country and paid on their behalf. Overwhelmed with her kindness, the two women posted her note on Facebook which eventually went viral and caught DeGeneres’s eye. Being the philanthropist that she is, DeGeneres first paid back Hoidahl for the bill, then got her new 50-inch TV and finally topped it off by giving her a cheque for $10,000. Now that’s called ‘giving back to society’!
