Reckless driving: Two killed one injured in road accident
Haripur police seizes numerous weapons and narcotics in the last six weeks.
HARIPUR:
A road accident claimed the lives of two people and injured one person on Sunday. The police and eyewitnesses said three cousins, from an Afghan refugee camp in Mansehra, were travelling to Swabi.
The driver lost control near Baldhair and the vehicle crashed into a roadside tree. Two of the travellers died on the spot while the third person was severely injured.
The deceased were identified as Abdullah and Satana Gul. The injured, identified as Mohibur Rehman, was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad, where he was said to be in critical condition.
Narcotics, weapons seized
Assistant superintendent police headquarters, Abdul Wahid, said the police recovered 87 pistols, six shotguns, five kilogrammes (kg) of hashish, 1.2 kg of heroin and 2,890 bottles of liquor, during the last six weeks.
The police busted a gang involved in the Hundi system (money laundering), recovered Rs13 million from their possession and arrested five persons, during a raid at Silkway Plaza.
Wahid said in the backdrop of growing terrorism, the police have raided the houses of Afghan refugees illegally staying in Haripur and arrested over 30 people. He said security levels have been increased in the city.
