ISLAMABAD:
The police and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have sacrificed 1,825 of their men while countering a wave of terrorism across the country.
Police and FIA personnel laid down their lives in the fight against terrorism but their resolve and sense of duty to the nation remain unshaken, a top official from the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
The official said that martyred police officers included:
To honor these men a National Police Martyrs Monument has been built at Police Line Headquarters, while a special fund has been set up for the families of the slain personnel.
The official also said that the government had increased the compensation package for the slain personnel from Rs500,000 to Rs2000,000, for major injured/disabled from Rs300,000 to Rs500,000 and for minor injured/disabled from Rs100,000 to Rs300,000.
Instead of criticising the security personnel, the public should encourage them as they perform their duties under risky conditions, the official said.
