Actionable intelligence: Police thwart apparent terrorist plot
Rasheed avoided disclosing the names of the place in question and persons detained on charges of possessing weapons.
MANSEHRA:
An alleged terror plot was foiled and heavy weapons seized on Eid day, claimed the district police.
District Police Officer (DPO) Khurum Rasheed briefed the media on Saturday, however, Rasheed avoided disclosing the names of the place in question and persons detained on charges of possessing weapons.
According to the DPO, the police raided a house based on an intelligence report. They recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) which had been prepared in a pressure cooker. Six rockets, a rocket launcher, three hand grenades, an RPG, six fuses, a bundle of wire used for detonating, three AK-47s and a sack full of fertilizer used in making IEDs were also recovered.
Rashid shared the terrorists had planned to strike their target on Eidul Azha but valuable intelligence helped police foil the plot.
Responding to a question, the DPO said the names of the suspected terrorists were deliberately being withheld in a bid to reach out to other accomplices. DPO Rasheed stated more details will be shared with the media after other possible terrorists are arrested.
