LAHORE:

Eminent foreign and local doctors will participate in a three-day international conference on cardiac diseases organised by the Punjab Institute of Cardiology from October 24.

The PIC Heart Talk 2013 will help young Pakistani doctors pick up important pointers from cardiologists and cardiac electro-physiologists, said PIC Chief Executive Dr Bilal Zakariah Khan at a briefing here on Saturday.

Dr Khan said that the lecturers would include Prof Antonio Colombo, Prof Stephen Richard Underwood, Prof Mohan Nair, Prof Hassanul Banna, Prof Zubair Akram and Prof M Azhar. The conference would give young Pakistani doctors a chance to meet these leading experts, he added.

The theme of the conference is cardiac pacing and clinical electro-physiology, which are rapidly-evolving fields in Pakistan, he said. The three-day conference will include special sessions on electrocardiography, invasive cardiology, cardiac imaging, emergency cardiac management and ECG manifestation in other organic diseases, he added.
