Irresponsible attitude: Registration of case sought for motorcycle damage

Petitioner says it was damaged by a calf running loose in the street.

LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday told the Sanda station house officer to record a petitioner’s version against 9 people whose calf, set loose in the street, damaged the petitioner’s motorcycle.

Petitioner Naveed Iqbal told the court that on October 15, Aqib and Zakir let their calf run loose in the street.

There were children playing in the street at the time, Iqbal said, so he told the men off for letting their calf run loose in the street.

Iqbal said that they did not pay heed and soon the calf rammed into his motorcycle and damaged it.

The petitioner said that he went to the men and complained about the damaged motorcycle but they started arguing with him and used abusive language.

Later, two other men, Khalilur Rehman and Abdul Ghaffar, came to his house and dragged him to a square where five unidentified people awaited him, said Iqbal.



They fired in the air to intimidate neighbours, he said, beat him up and threatened to kill him if he tried to stop them from allowing their cattle to roam the streets.

Iqbal said that he had tried to lodge a complaint with the police, but they refused to register a case against the men.

He asked the court to direct the Sanda station house officer to register a case against them.
