The provincial minister for local government, Syed Owais Muzaffar, has announced an increase in the Eid allowance of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation employees from Rs2,000 to Rs4,000 while appreciating their efforts to ensure cleanliness on the occasion of Eidul Azha.



The minister lauded the cleanliness arrangements made by officials of the five district municipal corporations during a visit to different parts of the city. During the tour, Muzaffar instructed the officials to remove the haphazard billboards and clear the encroachments under overhead bridges.

Taking notice of the shortage of drinking water, he directed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board’s managing director to ensure adequate water supply and also called for an operation against illegal hydrants. He directed the union council staff to construct garbage dens in their areas. Muzaffar revealed the government’s plans to establish sacrificial spots in each district by next year.
