NAUDERO:

The operation in Karachi was carried out to make sure the city does not suffer the same fate as Khyber-Pakhtunkwa (KP) and Balochistan, said former president Asif Ali Zardari.

He said the operation was called by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to rid Karachi of its criminal elements. Addressing a meeting at Naudero House on Thursday evening, he said the situation in KP and Balochistan was directed towards the break-up of Pakistan. Zardari was of the view that the law and order situation in both the provinces was the direct result of the ongoing ‘war on terrorism’ in Afghanistan.

The former president said he had directed the chief minister to improve the operation and bring reforms in the police department. After returning from Dubai, Zardari offered Eidul Azha prayers inside the Bhutto mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Naudero. He was accompanied by PPP patron-in-chief and his son, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and senior provincial minister Nisar Khuhro.

“When Bilawal comes out to lead the party, the mouths of the opponents will be shut,” claimed Shah.

Bilawal visited the historical site, Mohenjo Daro, amid foolproof security. He instructed the government to take all necessary steps to save the ancient site at all costs since after the 18th Amendment it was the job of the Sindh archaeology department to preserve such sites. There were strict security arrangements as a large number of police and Rangers kept vigilance and blocked all the roads leading to the Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. Several ministers were not allowed to enter the village for either arriving late or not having their names on the guest list.
