Forced to steal: SHO’s comments sought
Petitioner asked the court to direct the police to register a case against her husband.
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge has sought comments from the Shadman SHO for October 22 on a petition filed by a woman seeking a case against her husband for allegedly forcing her to steal. Petitioner Sakina Bibi submitted that she worked as a maid in various houses. She said that her husband Mukhtar Ahmed was an addict who made her start stealing from the houses she worked at. If she refused, he would beat her, she said. She said that she had tried to persuade her husband to get a job, but he had refused. He would beat her when she did not have money to give him for drugs, she added. The petitioner said that she had sought to lodge a complaint against her husband, but the police refused. She asked the court to direct the police to register a case against her husband.
