Unrelenting: 38 new dengue patients admitted in STH

Saidu Teaching Hospital’s (STH) dengue ward admitted 38 new patients on Sunday.
According to STH spokesperson Dr Wasil Ahmad Khan, with the new admissions the total number of dengue patients registered with the hospital rose to 4,518. “Around 49 patients were discharged after complete recovery,” said Dr Ahmad.
The spokesperson said at the moment 126 patients, including 89 males and 37 females, were hospitalised at the STH. “Nineteen patients are suffering from complications and receiving treatment in the intensive care unit,” he added.
Moreover, the total number of dengue positive patients in Swat reached 8,273.
The disease has claimed 31 lives in Swat according to official accounts, while the unofficial death toll stands at 52 since the beginning of the outbreak. It also claimed its first casualty from Shangla on Saturday when 24-year-old Khanzada, resident of Butyal in Bisham, died at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Bisham. Meanwhile, 53 new cases were also reported from various parts of Shangla district on Sunday taking the total dengue count to 514.
