VCs form association to protect varsities' interests

Vice-chancellors (VC) of public-sector universities in Sindh have formed an association to lobby their interests with the provincial government. An announcement was made at a meeting at the residence of Dr Nazir A Mughal, the VC of Sindh University, on Sunday.



According to SU spokesperson Nadir Mugheri, Dr Mughal has been made the association's chairperson, Karachi University VC Dr Muhammad Qaiser the vice chairperson, Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology VC Dr Ali Bux Soomro, the general secretary while Shaheed Benazirabad Bhutto University Benazirabad campus VC Arshad Saleem has been appointed as the treasurer..

The participants prepared recommendations which will be shared with the provincial education minister, Nisar Khuhro.

Dr Mughal said that all the VCs were stakeholders in the new law and their proposals should be included in any expected amendment. He added that the VCs will also meet the chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to apprise him about their proposals.
