ISLAMABAD:
The federal government on Sunday equipped the Balochistan police with 3,000 machine guns as well as MP5s and their bullets, Express News reported.

The security force was given 360,000 bullets for the machine guns and an additional 120,000 bullets for the MP5s.

The decision to increase weapons held by Balochistan police was under discussion since the new government came to power.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army chief General Ashfaq Kayani had met and decided that the army would provide as many weapons as possible without causing a dent in their own operations.

The purpose of providing more ammunition is to help the Balochistan police with combating rising terrorism in the province.
