A man on Friday allegedly robbed the house where he had worked and then set it on fire.


Gakhar police told the media that Tanveer, a resident of Zafar Colony, had been a security guard at Muhammad Tufail’s house in Mughalpura.


Police said Tanveer and two unidentified accomplices, broke into the house at around 1am on Friday and stole Rs3,000,000, jewellery and four brief cases containing valuables.

Police said the men later put the house on fire to destroy evidence.

Police said Tufail and his two sons, Shahbaz and Waqas, were asleep in a building adjacent to the house when the robbery took place.

When they learnt about the fire, police said, they called Rescue 1122 for help. The fire was timely stopped from spreading to other houses in the neighbourhood but the house was completely destroyed in the fire. Gakhar police said Tanveer had been arrested.
