SUKKUR:
US Consul General Karachi William Martin visited Pannu Aqil Cantonment and thanked Pakistani and US military troops for their contribution to the flood relief work in Sindh, according to a press release issued by the US Embassy on Tuesday.

Martin said millions of dollars are being directed to assist the people of Pakistan through US funding of the United Nations agencies, NGOs and the Government of Pakistan.

“Here in Pannu Aqil, American helicopters continue to carry food and supplies every day to flood victims who are in desperate need of assistance,” said the consul general. He said that thousands upon thousands of people have been helped through the “extraordinary cooperation between the military forces of Pakistan and the United States”.

According to him, the US military has delivered more than 6.8 million kilogrammes of relief supplies and provided humanitarian airlift for over 21,000 people in the flood-affected regions of Pakistan.

“Nothing speaks more about America’s commitment to Pakistan than the American Marines we see here today,” he said adding, “I want to assure the people of Pakistan that the American people will stand by you now and will be here to help you rebuild.”
