Securing the courts: ‘Law chambers a security challenge’
The bench adjourned the hearing of the case, regarding security at courts in the Punjab, until October 22.
LAHORE:
Walkthrough gates and CCTV cameras are being installed at entrances and exits and security personnel are to be trained in order to improve security at the courts in the Punjab, DIG (Operations) Tahir Rai told the Lahore High Court on Thursday. However, the DIG added that the location of lawyers’ chambers in court premises in some places posed a challenge to providing “foolproof security”. The court remarked that the police had a duty to provide “foolproof security”. A division bench consisting of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Sheikh Najamul Hassan asked the DIG to inform the court about action taken against persons arrested from court premises in possession of firearms. The bench adjourned the hearing of the case, regarding security at courts in the Punjab, until October 22.
