Looking upwards: World Space Week concludes with prize distribution

Telescopes were presented to winning team and their faculty members, certificates given to all participating teams.

Activities of World Space Week (WSW) 2013 concluded on Thursday with a prize distribution ceremony at University of Engineering and Technology (UET).



The theme this year was ‘Exploring Mars: Discovering Earth’. Students from different colleges and schools in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa participated with the aim to create awareness about space.

Chairing the event, SUPARCO Peshawar Director General Muhammad Farooq said: “It is evident from the enthusiasm and participation of the youth that they want to learn about innovations in science.”

Faculty of Engineering Dean Dr Zahid Mehmood later distributed awards and certificates to the winners of various competitions held among students to judge their knowledge. Events included speech competition, poster making, model making, quizzes etc. Telescopes were presented to the winning team and their faculty members, with certificates given to all participating teams.
