Blast in Karachi kills three suspected terrorists

A bomb-planting endeavour went bad, with the resulting explosion killing three terrorists.

KARACHI:
A blast in MPR Colony near Minghopir, Karachi, killed three people on Thursday, Express News reported.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for District West, Javed Alam Odho stated that the three persons killed were terrorists attempting to plant explosive material weighing an estimated four to five kilograms, when the explosive devices went off prematurely. As a result, all three suspected terrorists were killed.

The DIG said the criminals were planning an explosion for Friday.


The bomb was attached to a motorcycle. Police have recovered NICs of the dead from the site, confirming the identities of the dead. Ball bearings were also found in the area after the blast.

Police have cordoned off the area and are trying to locate any additional bomb that may be planted by the terrorists.

Reports of the blast in Karachi follow blasts in three other provincial capitals of the country including in Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta. At least 6 people have reportedly been killed in all the blasts with at least 50 injured.
