MANSEHRA:
Traders and political workers observed a strike for a second consecutive day in protest to the transfer orders of district police officer (DPO) Mansehra.
The strike brought life in the district to a standstill. Protesters blocked access to the Karakorum Highway and link roads, forcing students and workers to stay away from educational institutes and duties respectively. Members of the Jamaat-e-Ismali, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamiat UIema-e-Islam Fazl, Jamiat UIema-e-Islam- Sami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The provincial government’s decision to transfer DPO Mansehra, Abdul Ghafoor Afridi, to Peshawar has sparked unrest in the district. Protesters have announced to continue protests till the time the transfer order is not revoked. The main protest rally was held at Mansehra chowk.
