KARACHI:
Afghan FC drew their third match in the ongoing Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) season in Karachi yesterday against Pak-Afghan Clearing Agency (Paca).
Playing their fifth match of the season, both sides struggled to create openings as the tie ended in a stalemate. It was Paca’s third draw of the season. They move into ninth spot ahead of Afghan FC.
Former Pakistan player and Afghan FC captain, Jadeed Khan, lamented the Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) decision to limit the tournament to Karachi and Lahore only, ruling Chaman out as a venue this season.
“It is very difficult for us and we don’t enjoy playing here,” Khan told The Express Tribune.
“It’s financially pressing upon us as we have had to pay Rs100,000 just for accommodation in Karachi so far. We also used to earn revenue from attendance as at least a thousand people would buy tickets to our matches in Chaman, but it’s not the same in Karachi.”
Earlier, the league was conducted on home-and-away basis, but departmental teams asked the federation to shift the matches from Chaman due to security concerns.
Meanwhile, Jadeed added that the referees were biased towards Paca in yesterday’s match.
“The referee was against us and favoured Paca throughout the match,” said Khan. “But despite the problems, we are gelling as a team, we’ve just lost one match so far and it’s not a bad start for us.”
