BAHAWALPUR:

A woman was killed by her husband on Tuesday following an argument. Derawar police said Rasheed Ahmad, a resident of Chak 125-DB near Khatri Bangla, later surrendered to the police. They said he had confessed to his crime.

They said he told them that he had been unemployed for several years and had started taking drugs. He said there were frequent arguments with his wife over money. On Monday night, he said, he had asked her for money. When she said she did not have any, he told her to get it from her parents. She refused and beat her up.

On Tuesday morning, he said, his wife refused to make him breakfast saying there was no money to buy wheat flour and that he should look for a job if he wanted food. This again led to an argument and he hit her with an axe.

Station House Officer Ghazanfar Tufail told The Express Tribune that an FIR had been registered against Ahmad. He said the confessed killer had also handed over the axe. Elsewhere, in Islampura area in Yazman, a woman was shot dead by two men she had had an argument with. A case has been registered against the suspects on a complaint by her brother.
