A 16-year-old girl was raped allegedly by two men who the police said were her neighbours. An FIR was registered on a complaint by the girl’s mother.
Tarkhani police quoted the complainant as saying that two men, nominated in the FIR, had entered their house in Chak 43-GB by scaling a wall. She said she recognised both the men, who she said were from the same neighborhood. She said she told them to leave, but they locked her in a room, beat up her daughter, then covered her mouth with tape and dragged her daughter out of the house.
She said they took her to a sugarcane field and raped her.
She said some passers-by heard the girl shout for help and rescued her. She said both the rapists fled.
She said her daughter was brought home and she was released from the room. She said she took the child to the police station, from where she was taken to a hospital for a medico-legal examination.
The woman told police that she had been receiving threats from the suspects, who she said, were pressing her to withdraw the complaint.
Station House Officer Inspector Abdul Jabbar told The Express Tribune that an FIR had been registered.
He said a police team was looking for the suspects. He said their houses were raided, but they were not found there. He said police were also waiting for the medico-legal examination report.

Why is it that ‘Rape’ has suddenly became the choicest subject to dabble around by the local print and electronic media. Reason: To pale in comparison the rape hullabaloo created of the Dehli rape case, and to show that we have this problem as well, not just India has this menace. Media should realize two 'Wrongs' doesn’t make one 'Right'. A classic case of Paid content.
Sorry! There are no 4 witnesses and DNA evidence is as dependable as power supply in Lalian, Sargodha. DNA testing is also unislamic so the girl must suffer quietly!
Dear ET. Its time to start naming & shaming the suspects and their families.
@Aakashvaani: The comments here are moderated, the comment may have been removed, hence the misunderstanding. Although that does beg the question as to why the first comment is still there, maybe that has to do with the ordering of the comments, or lazy moderation, whatever it is, this issue is far more important than India vs. Pakistan sentiments. Apologies.
@Mirza: By us you mean you and othere Endian Trolls PEACE.
@Syed A. Mateen: Unless death penalty will not be awarded to the rapists, there will be no end to the rape cases in Pakistan.
If you start killing Pakistanis for sexual crimes, you will have to kill lot of people including Moulvis.
A few weeks back an eight year old boy was raped by his teacher in madrasah. Police refused to register an FIR. Sexual abuse, rape, incest is common in Pakistan.
@Sameer: Don't blame the media; blame the men who rape women. The job of a news outlet is to report news, and this story is news. And if Pakistani news outlets only reported things after a trail and conviction, nothing would get reported, 'cos let's face it, the conviction rate in this country is pitifully low.
We should not be too quick to condemn someone, let the facts come out first. I mean does it not even occur to you that this could easily be a consensual affair turned into a rape accusation on discovery by a third party, is it that hard to imagine? Do illicit affairs never happen in our country? Let the facts come out first then denounce someone, please.
It's time that ET started to identify these perpetrators - pictures and names - might help find these rapist who have fled.
I fully expect to hear many more cases like this in Pakistan because of the failed legal system based on sharia???why wouldn't guys rape girls in a country that foolishly expects 4 witnesses to testify or cannot get a conviction...even with DNA evidence...also as the mother has already received threats against her if she presses charges and will receive no protection from the court or local police why should any rapist be worried?...the disaster that has been created by mixing religion with civil law has produced a perfect environment for rapists in Pakistan and they are free to threaten all females with little fear of justice for their heinous crimes...
I hope to see the culprits caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Ali Khan
where are the enforcers of Shariah now? Taliban and their splinter groups? why dont they give the death penalty to these rapists as prescribed in Shariah? Seems these groups just want power and only create chaos, they are not interested in really implementing Shariah. if shariah was truly implemented, all such rapists would have been long shot dead.
couldn't you add more spice to it? come on!!!!!!!! this is not the way to report this kind of sensitive news. i guess report writer might had wanted to add what and how everything happened in the close room. its a shame!
@jibran: In a province of over 100 million, there are going to be deviants and criminals who carry out heinous acts of rape such as that depicted here. Unlike other places, criminals acts of all kinds are brought to public attention in Punjab with the result that there is more transparency and investigations and introspection. Having said that, justice has to be served and the rapists brought to justice. I would not term this a widespread problem in Punjab or any other part of Pakistan simply because society in Pakistan can be very vindictive. My experience in most villages is that family members, especially male family members will not stop until the the criminals are apprehended and the score is settled. The perceived concept of honour and family is very strong in rural Pakistan so it is unlikely that the criminals will get away in this case.
Four witnesses is the primary evidence, however if there are not four witnesses but strong evidence, the judge can still charge the rapist as he deems fit. This is sharia law.
Whats going on in punjab? Why the males are turning into monsters. From fundamentalism, fraud, to rape, is there any good left? Tragedy is that there is no condemnation, and protests against these atrocious crimes. And there is no suo moto either. You have to be the son of a DSP and a blogger sister, and the culprit has to be a feudal to warrant a protest. There isn't anyone to protect poor children.
@S: Shame on this pakistani that after this horror, all he could utter in condemnation is India. I expect that our indian neighbors will be moved more to condemn this outrageous barbarity, and our police will catch the culprits.
Hanging for rape is ineffective. The right punishment will act as a deterrent and cause lifetime suffering to the rapist. Surgically remove the male reproductive organ and tattoo rapist on the forehead and hands. People I have discussed this with approve of that this punishment is better than the one we now have
@Sameer...don"t blame media blame the system where justice is purchased with money and power
@Bilal: well said!!
@Sameer: news is news you dont hv to wait for the jurisdictions , they are only giving information. and my personal opinion is such news Should be made public so such people are made to think about it before such actions
Agreed we have a history of hating this country, we have a history of vilifying the entire population of the country - And why not? they do the same! But why NOW? Why after reading this particular piece of news which has nothing to do with them ?? A young girl gets raped. There is no possibility of bringing the criminals to justice (our legal history has shown that).. and we comment not by holding our head in shame ..not by demanding a fixing of the legal system.. not by expressing our hopelessness but by attacking another country,
I hold my head in shame for the crimes against humanity rampant in our society. I hold my head in shame for the hopelessness of our legal system and I hold my head in shame for the uncalled hatred we spew. Apologies to the Indians on this page.
@ Yumna Saying something against Pakistan and point out the bad things in Pakistan is totally different.
Good Luck finding those four witnesses.
Good luck finding the Four Witnesses.
@S @jangul and et al Pakistani people
India has a rape problem. we will admit it. But regardless of that, thousands of Indians regardless or Religion and Sex protested against rapes. We even have got death penalties for the people who committed this crimes. Crimes happen but so does justice. Now compare it to the very recent minor rape that happened in Pakistan. You need to protest against the release of the perpetrators due to lack of DNA evidence which is not acceptable in your country.
Peace :)
@Yumna: Logical, rational comment. Very rare indeed but sensible people do exist.
Your home is burning yet you go to others and tell them their to get things in order, and do nothing about your situation, except denying it. - yeah, that's us.
@S: @jangul: Keep quiet. People like you only embarrass us. Many thanks.
@S @jangul
I am seeing guys bashing India on this section whereas not a single Indian have commented as of yet except Akashvaani where she gave a reply to @S. I really do not know why. Any specific reason guys ?
@jangul: Yes please, trash India and all other countries and pretend that our country has no problems or 'less in magnitude' than others. People like YOU are the biggest problems in our country. Happliy pointing fingers at others when you should be ashamed at our own state! no matter how big or small the problem it EXISTS.
To everyone who just can't seem to get over the complex of competing with India at every possible thing - its time to you took the bitter pill and understood that India has achieved things we have absolutely no hope of achieving. it IS one of the fastest growing economies in the world, it IS the nation where literacy is rapidly rising and education is a bigger priority than it is for our filthy/greedy/power-hungry govt. Also, when you fall in to the trap of 'India has so many problems..' well hello - their population is 6 times that of ours!! of course in comparison they'll have more problems than us. but ATLEAST there's something being done about them for eg: the ruling against the cuplrits in the Delhi gang rape case!
If anything, we can start learning something from them!
We tend to ape indians in all social trends. Both good ones and bad: mostly bad ones.
My profound condolences to the victim for this inhuman act of aggression and torture. Pakistan has failed because of the weakness of the leaders beholden to the 'biradari' system.
Why? Why? Why? Why did we allow this to happen in the time of Musharraf, Zardari, and now Nawaz? What are the SANE thinking men of Pakistan doing? Sitting back on their haunches and watching TV and cs---- the political wastrels? Why don't they raise their voices and use their hands and feet against this satanic function? Despite CCTV footage, how come the rapist of the little girl in Lahore has not been arraigned / hanged as yet ? Because, we are weak Pakistanis subject to tribal protocol. Salams
Yess cheap indians,,,,,,, your society is full of such incidents.......on daily basis it happens there and may be 100000 case per day.......but no one knows about it......cause rare cases are brought to media and 99% cases of rape of poor families remain unknown.........indian has more poverty, illiteracy and dirt than pakistan
A moment is this for all of us to consider our systems, society, media and sources of communications. Internet bundles on mobiles, nite packages and hourly offers on cheap rates, race of our media with Indian channels, cables are all the source which aggravate our youngsters who are without proper look after and education, and thus we see now a days rape incidents of even five, seven years girls................OMG.......bad time for our society......we should restructurize the systems and maintain our values instead of getting impressed by the foreign channels, life style, and our mobile companies are also one the mojor cause in making laufers our generation.......yess internet in their pocket can destroy them totally.
Ohhh. When we're moving to fix this problem by passing out the legislation of capital punishment and instant public execution of the culprits.
We are not only being termed as illiterate extremists and fundamentalists, actually we are. Yes its a bitter pill but must have to swallow, if break this social menace circle. Our problem is the state of denial in which we are living. We patronize ourselves on no grounds. We have always put blame on others and make our enemies without considering the faults in our society. These kinds of cases are found on regular basis that needs immediate attention from lawmakers, law enforcement agencies and civil society. Though most of us are pavlovian objects but not everyone is alike. These cases are also found regularly in India but that doesn't mean that people from cross borders restrict themselves to their homelands only. A crime is crime be it here or be it there. One must condemn these acts for the sake of humanity.
@Aakashvaani: Get a job dude.
Unless death penalty will not be awarded to the rapists, there will be no end to the rape cases in Pakistan.
It is unfortunate that Government has a soft corner for the rapists and condemned prisoners and therefore despite court rulings, there are more than 8000 people who are enjoying their lives in jails and are not executed by the government.
What is the use of conducting medical examination of the girls being raped and registering FIR's in the area Police Stations when the rapists and murderers are not awarded capital punishment?
Turning a blind eye towards such incidents by the government will lead to mob justice.
I can foresee that in case if the rapists are caught by the people of the area, they will be stoned to death, which is the punishment told to be awarded to the rapists according to the Muslim religion Islam.
@S: You are the first to comment on here, there were no Indians before? Are you really THAT paranoid? I guess its part of your national Psyche and education. However, talking about the unfortunate incident above and having learnt from past experiences, I wonder what will come out of it except a lie-detector test and exonerating all the criminals.
Home town of Senior Minister of Punjab Rana Sb. certainly no action will be taken against the criminals.
We are already looked down upon as illiterate extremists and fundamentalists and to make matters worse, our media has gone completely out of hand, they don't care about the country's reputation. Why publish such news based on allegations, without the judgement from a court? Just to increase viewership, they will make news of non-essential incidents news, while the country is burning from East-to-West. Dont be like Indian media, please have some decency, is all I am saying.
Dear Indian, Please check out your home first, before jumping out in this section. Thanks.
