PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) Human Rights Directorate (HRD) on Tuesday directed the provincial health secretary to submit a clarification report regarding alleged negligence of doctors at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).

The HRD issued the directives following a petition filed by Sheheryar, a resident of Peshawar. Sheheryar told the court he took his son Shehzad, a fourth grade student, to the LRH where doctors administered an injection which has caused permanent damage to Shehzad’s eyesight.

Sheheryar further said he informed the hospital administration of the incident and was told an investigation would be conducted and action would be taken against those found responsible for negligence.  However, no action has been taken so far, he said.

Furthermore, the complainant added when he went to Khan Raziq police station to register an FIR against doctors, the policemen declined to lodge the complaint which compelled him to approach the court.

The HRD issued directives to the health secretary to submit a report on the matter in 15 days and to explain why he failed take action against negligent doctors.
