Musharraf’s name remains in Benazir murder case

Anti-terrorism court rejects a request to discharge former dictator.

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Tuesday rejected a request to discharge former dictator Pervez Musharraf's name from the Benazir Bhutto murder case, Express News reported.   

A hearing in this regard was held today during which Advocate Akhtar Shah made the request to discharge Musharraf’s name.

After listening to his arguments, the court rejected the plea as inadmissible.

The court also dismissed Shah’s request to become a party and a witness in the case, saying he was politically affiliated.

The anti-terrorism court further accepted a request for new trial of the case, which is to begin on October 22, and has also summoned three witnesses.
