Irregular appointments: Lesco takes notice of illegal practice
Chief executive will no more be entitled to make appointments and postings of grade 19 officials or higher.

Lahore Electric Supply Company’s (Lesco) chairman board of directors Viqar A Khan, while taking notice of the irregularities in the appointments and postings of lower grade officials on high-level posts, has stripped chief executive of the authority to make such decisions. According to sources in Lesco’s HR department, the chief executive will no more be entitled to make appointments and postings of grade 19 officials or higher. This was decided in a meeting at Lesco’s headquarters, also attended by Lesco chief executive officer Arshad Rafiq. It was discussed in the meeting that company’s new administration has transferred many officials from the key posts. These appointments have destabilised the company, the recovery has also descended to a record low while overbilling has increased by 30 per cent, the officials said at the meeting. It was unanimously decided in meeting from now onwards only the chairman BOD will be legally entitled to make high-grade appointments.
