Two students hospitalised after beating by teachers

A six-year-old student was beaten up on Monday allegedly by a teacher at a private school in Tibba Sultanpur’s Ward No 7.
The boy was taken to Nishtar Hospital in Multan, where doctors said that he was in critical condition.
Doctors said the child had been brought in unconscious. They said there were traces of blood in his urine and bruises on his body.
The child’s father told The Express Tribune that the teacher, Kaleemullah, was threatening him with dire consequences and had warned him against filing a complaint. Police said they had yet to receive a complaint.
Also on Monday, a third grade student was beaten up and her arm broken allegedly by her teacher for talking during a class. The girl was taken to a hospital, where doctors later said that she was out of danger. A case was registered with the Jatoi police on her father’s complaint. Ghulam Farid said that his daughter studied at Fatima Girls School in the Jallo Sahu area. He said on Monday, her teacher Fayyaz Husain saw her talking to her friends during a lesson and beat her up. He said he hit her so hard that he broke the child’s arm. He said he was told by the school management that his daughter had fallen off a swing. When he got there, he said, he found out that she had been beaten. He said he took her to the hospital. When he contacted the school principal, Abdur Rasheed, Farid said he threatened him and warned him not to report the matter to the police.
Police said they had started an investigation.
