KARACHI:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership has decided to give the charge of Sindh home ministry to Owais Muzaffar, minister for local government, it is learnt.

The decision was made at a meeting chaired by Asif Ali Zardari, de facto chief of PPP, in Dubai on Sunday, sources in the party told The Express Tribune.

Zardari has offered his foster brother the charge of home department, sources said, adding that a notification in this connection would be issued soon.

The meeting of the ruling party of Sindh discussed law and order situation of Karachi and the province, power tussle in the party, creation of two new districts and recovery of Rs82 billion from the federal government.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, Minister for Jails Manzoor Wasan, Adviser to CM on Finance Murad Ali Shah were present in the meeting among others.

PPP sources said Zardari held separate meetings with Sindh CM and Muzzaffar. There were reports that Zardari resolved the differences between both the PPP leaders that had emerged after the CM had taken back the health ministry portfolio from Muzaffar.

“Zardari consoled his foster brother and offered him the charge of home department,” a PPP source said.

The meeting also discussed the issue of Rs82 billion that the federal government owes to Sindh. Zardari asked the CM to remind the centre and recover the outstanding amount of provincial government’s share in the divisible pool of taxes.
