A curfew was imposed in the area after the blast.
The injured were taken to Bannu Combined Military Hospital, where the hospital management declared the injured out of danger.
A military vehicle on a routine patrol hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Bannu region near Miranshah in North Waziristan tribal district.
"Three soldiers were killed... when their vehicle was struck with an IED alongside Bannu-Miranshah road early in the morning on Sunday," a security official in Peshawar told AFP on condition of anonymity.
One soldier was killed on the spot and two others died in hospital, he said.
A little known militant organisation, Ansarul Islam Mujahideen, claimed responsibility for the attack.
"We attacked the military convoy in Bannu region this morning," Abu Baseer, a spokesman for the militant outfit, said in Miranshah.
"Such attacks are in retaliation for the drone strikes and will continue until the US and Pakistani governments stop targeting mujahideen through the unmanned aircraft," he said.

Good morning to pakistan...from INDIA....
Keep on begging for talks till the casualties cross six figure mark.
Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif's policy of appeasement has worked. Now they are even more emboldened.
These are definitely not Terrorists, either they are RAW/CIA agents, Mujahideen, Non-state actors or lets just say they are 'Rebels'. Its sad that no one even feels sorry for Pakistan because you deserve it. A general view is that if you nurture snakes in your backyard, eventually they are going to bite you. As you sow, so shall you reap!
So Long Comrades
Now-a-days, KPK has become frequent target of the terrorists.
Since blasts and suicide attacks have started in Pakistan, the law enforcement agencies could not arrest a single master mind of the blast or suicide attack, despite the fact that there were so mNy security personnel were killed.
Ch. Nisar should reach to a conclusion as what are the reasons behind that our law enforcing agencies are not capable of arresting the masterminds?
So 2 more bombings before Imran Khan will re-consider peace talks with the Talibans!
Read somewhere that Imran said after 3 more bomb attacks, it will be difficult to talk to the Talibans. Dear Imran, if nobody dies, will you still count the bomb or that will be like no ball?
