PESHAWAR:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday sent the driver and two cleaners of the bus which was bombed on September 27 to the Peshawar Central Prison on judicial remand.

The prosecutor told the court the driver, Fayaz, and cleaners Aslam and Ibrahim were arrested on the chief minister’s orders after a bomb ripped through a bus carrying employees of the Civil Secretariat, killing at least 19 people and injuring over 30 others. On September 30, they were handed over to the police for a four-day remand which ended on Friday.

The accused were then presented before ATC judge Asghar Khan. After hearing the arguments, Judge Khan sent Fayaz, Aslam and Ibrahim on judicial remand to prison.

On September 27, a bomb exploded in Gul Bela inside a passenger bus headed to Charsadda loaded with employees of the Civil Secretariat. Following the attack, CM Pervez Khattak ordered the arrest of the bus owner, driver and cleaners for ‘negligence’ and taking on board passengers who were not government employees.
