Shutdown warning: KESC not to exceed 650 megawatts, says Ali
The government is taking appropriate measures to overcome the power shortage, says minister.

The National Power Control Centre (NPC) on Thursday was directed to disconnect the power supply to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) if it exceeded its allocated quota of 650MW. Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali had directed the power control centre to write a letter to the KESC, warning them to face a shutdown if it drew power supply above 650MW.
He directed KESC for submitting a report comprising record for the last six months to asses as to how much loss had been incurred by the KESC to the national funds.
He said that the government was taking appropriate measures to overcome the power shortage.
The minister expressed dismay that 2,500MW to Pesco and Kepco was handled manually by the center, as the difference between supply and demand stood at around 3,500MW.
