Australian sheep saga: SHC stays revoking of importer’s licence

Sindh High Court has  granted stay order to an importer of Australian sheep against the action of animal husbandry department for revoking his import licence.



The court was informed on Wednesday by the importer Tariq Mehmood Butt that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had cleared him from the charges of bringing thousands of infected Australian sheep to the country.


He has filed a petition in the court to plead for stay order against revocation of his license by the animal husbandry department.


The complainant stated that the provincial livestock department got thousands of sheep culled for having anthrax.


However the investigation found nothing incriminating, the petitioner’s lawyer stated, citing the FIA inquiry report.


Butt has dragged ministries of livestock, commissioner for animal husbandry, commerce secretary and FIA to the court.
