Pakistan, India to clash in rugby final
Arch rivals to meet on October 5 for Asian U19 title.
KARACHI:
Hosts Pakistan will take on India in the final of the Asian U19 Rugby Championship Division Third, that will be played on October 5 at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore.
The event commenced yesterday with the home team overwhelming Afghanistan in the semi-final. Pakistan, boosted by a vibrant home crowd, proved too good for the Afghan side, thrashing them 44-6 to enter the final. Fahad Ali and Mohammad Usman were the top performers.
On the other hand, India enjoyed a walk-over against Uzbekistan to make it to the final. According to the organisers, the Uzbek side failed to arrive due to flight issues.
Later in the day, India outplayed the Pakistan Universities’ outfit 30-5 in an exhibition match. Indar Guru put up an outstanding show. The visitors were leading 15-5 at half-time and they finished the job by doubling their score in the next session.
